THE UPDATED BLOG

October 29th, 2006 by chickykin

Hmm I know some of you have been wondering wat’s up with Aaron. So long never see him blog. Well guys, it has been a crazy month of October and I’m glad that it’s finally closing. Lot’s of things have happened. Some good and some well not so good.

My plant design finally passed up to my supervisor. Finally after 3 months of slavery and sleepless nites, already done with it. The whole design process for me was a terror and nitemare. Broke down on one of the nites and couldn’t sleep. Thank God for my brothers in arms who helped me pick up. Derrick, Yan Wai, Josh E and Max, thank you for sticking with me. You don’t know how it feels to be loved and cared for unless you yourself are stuck in that situation.

16th - 22nd October was a killer week. Here’s my schedule

16th - Task 3 Design deadline

17th - Lab VIVA

18th - Waste water Engineering Test and Lab Test

19th - Design Test

20th - ASPEN Plus Design deadline, Advanced Control Assignment 2 & 3 deadline

So by the 20th, I was knock out cold. Then 21st had Worship Practice and den 22nd the most interesting thing that happened in my life….tell you later about tat :P

13th-15th October was in Ipoh for my Convention Organising Team Meeting. Mind you this year’s convention is a lot of newbies in the group. So a lot of new ideas and not so sure tangible ideas have been put forward. A lot of the seniors are coming in late for convention so the newbies have to put thier best foot forward. It’s kinda weird to see that as a chairperson, you dun have much work to do. Just a lot of overseeing and giving advices. As Eric once said, it’s time for me to let go. Haha!!!

24th-25th October: Went for church camp. Camp was held in Bukit Merah and it was cool. For the first time in my life, I’ve got to know all the members in PBBC. And it really taught me a few good lessons. First of all, God showed me to shut up and observe ppl more. And second of all, got to spend time with so much aunties and uncles that it taught me tat I will become like them one day. And it was a humbling experience. The food was not so great in Bukit Merah but the fellowship was super great. On the last day, the USMers went to the water park. Actually it was a guy’s fellowship (sausage party as deemed by Jason). Me, Derrick, Yan Wai, Josh E, Jason, and Chee Khoon had a blast in the water park. Worth the RM 21 we paid (I think). And the trip back was also memorable. Got stuck in a traffic jam on the highway. I was driving the van and my legs were wobbling after that.

26th October - Another turning point. You guys still remember Jon? haha…For those who don’t know, he was an ex prez of the CF. A very close fren of mine. Actually can say we are like brothers. He really took care of me when I was a junior. And until now, he is always looking out for me (Thanks Jon). Well after he left, he reminded me tat it is now my turn to look out for another junior. To guide that person until I leave. So after much prayer and testing waters and eureeka I’ve found him. Derrick is my new found bro. And I hope I can be a blessing to him. Not just in campus here but when we are out there in the world too. Sui Ying was commenting that we look like those HK movies. haha. Need to cut ourselves and drip blood. So Derrick, here’s to a new road together cheers.

Wow

As you can see October is a crazy month and still got two more days. Tomorrow is mum and dad’s anniversary and wishin them a great 25th Anniversary.

Cheers peeps

HOW GREAT IS OUR GOD

October 4th, 2006 by chickykin

I’m dedicating this song to all who are busy with work. Remember that God is the greatest

The splendor of the King,
Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice,
All the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in light,
And darkness tries to hide
And trembles at his voice,
And trembles at his voice

How great is our God,
Sing with me
How great is our God,
and all will see
How great, How great
Is our God

Age to age he stands
And time is in His Hands
Beginning and the End,
Beginning and the End
The Godhead, Three in one
Father, Spirit, Son
The Lion and the Lamb,
The Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names
Worthy of our praise
My heart will sing how great
Is our God

HIGHER GROUND

September 27th, 2006 by chickykin

Hey guys, just came back from our CF’s Family Camp. This year the camp was in Maxwell Hill, Taiping. A very cold indeed but somehow or rather I feel that God is always in the mountains. I mean of all the camps I’ve attended and when it’s in the mountains, sure God will meet me. Not that camps by the seaside God is not there but just I feel that God is closer with me up in the hills. Camp Cameron, NC and now Family Camp, God was indeed speaking.

The camp was themed, Standing on Higher Ground, based on the verse Romans 12:1-2. The verse teaches us that we are to be set apart, holy and pleasing to God as living sacrifices. It also was a time for many of the campers to evaluate their Christian life thus far. After so many years, the CF decided to do a camp just for CF members. The last few years it has always been about unity and also about fellowship. I think it was a nice change for a lot of us.

Kim Cheng was our speaker and I can tell you that she really drove a lot of nails into a lot of us. Here are some things that have caught my attention. "God put his love on the line for us", "The beautitudes is God’s upside-down rule", "All that I am, All that I have, I give to the Lord". Theses are a few phrases that really spoke to me. Actually they are all reminders for me. Therefore I actually named my experience in this camp as "REMINDER…a reminder of myself, a reminder of people and a reminder of purpose"

A reminder of myself…..I’m already in my final year. And in this camp, I had time to reflect about what I have done for God through the CF. I actually remembering reading’s Jinny blog that she actually am thankful for her seniors. Simon also wrote that he already ‘mm sek tak’ us. Actually I also ‘mm sek tak’ them too. How I wish I don’t have to grad but to continue to be in USM. Impossible cause life have to go on. A newer generation have to take over. But the reminder of myself in CF, in USM still remains in me. Have I been a good senior to my junior and a good junior to my seniors. I still remember when I was in first year, the final year students at their farewell did a mime "Find us faithful". The song goes "To all that come behind us will find us faithful". Am I ready to say that when I leave? I hope I can.

A reminder of people……..My four years I realise has been about people. People have been a big part of my life. My senior and also my juniors. All have played a part in helping me grow. I remember when I was in first year, my seniors helped me be a part of the CF and also be a part of uni. Kah Ling, Christina and Jonathan, I really thank you for making my life in USM so special. My juniors…you guys are the best lah..Everyday I get to hang out with you guys, and you guys are so cool to be with.

A reminder of purpose….."Aaron I see you carrying a lantern around USM, I believe God wants you to shine Jesus’ light through you in campus", that was the prophecy/vision that my pastor saw when she prayed for me. At first I didn’t understand it, but after joining CF and also being a part of the commitee I just realise that my ministry is with people. To help them. To understand ppl, and to understand that God has plans for everyone.

All in all the camp was indeed a blessing for me. I’ve grown and I’ve seen ppl grow.

To my tasik group: Josh P, Christina, Pui Fern, Chee Khoon, Nik Siong, Yan Wai, Sze-Lyn..you guys are the best. The lessons I’ve learnt from you guys have encouraged me. When I say TA you say SIK…

Camp Commitee especially the two coordinators: Derrick and Yan Wai, you guys made me proud. I know I have said it many times but I really really am proud. I pray that God has taught you guys somethings in the journey. Continue to grow as CGL. The rest of the commitee, it was fun man. The meetings and the camp itself was a blast. I thank God that you guys volunteered.

Whole Camp: Higher Grounders, praise God that you have met Him there. I believe all of us are changed in a way. I pray that we will continue to grow together as a family. Remember you are not alone.

"So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life-your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking around life-and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you" Romans 12:1-2 (The Message)

NONE LIKE JESUS

September 21st, 2006 by chickykin

Just a song to share

In the quiet
In the stillness
I know that You are God
In the secret of Your presence
I know there I am restored
When You call i won't refuse
Each new day again I'll choose

There is no one else for me
None but Jesus
Crucified to set me free
Now I live to bring Him praise

In the chaos in confusion
I know You're sovereign still
In the moment of my weakness
You give me grace to do Your will
When You call I won't delay
This my song through all my days

All my delight is in You Lord
All of my hope
All of my strength
All my delight is in You Lord
Forever more

TIME OUT

September 9th, 2006 by chickykin

Sorry guys for not updating my blog…Sigh…just pretty lazy and when I find the inspiration to write…I get caught up of other things. 2 weeks ago, I and a few others (Max, Ah Lia, Sui Ying, Chee Khoon, Yee Wei and Tze Lynn) went for another FES programme called TIME OUT…designed for student leaders in the CF. The programme well it’s for leaders to have a TIME OUT, time to reflect what has happen for the past few months ans also time to regroup one self.

For the first time in history, the participants from USM KKj outnumbered the rest (actually there was only 8 of us..1 from USM main campus…nice to be meet you Esmond).

The day started with a praise and worship session….acapela style and it was wonderful. Simple and yet God’s presence was really strong. Then Uncle Chun Chung gave a short sharing on why we should be taking a break. About 11 we were then given time to reflect on past few months. I had a great time at the garden of the condo (where the FES office is). The tree, the breeze and the weather was so nice that it was really a calming effect on us. The reflection was from 11 to 2pm. Then had a light lunch before meeting up with Uncle Chun Chung for some one to one talk. Really enjoy it when I’m with him cause I have always seen him as a mentor and a good friend.

About 2 to 4 we had simple fellowship, laughing, playing games and also playing tricks on ppl. After that Grandma Swee Kit gave a closing sharing about Martha and Mary…another inspiring session.

What have I learned? I just realised that God is my PID. My provider/portion, My Instructor and also my developer. I realise that God has been super faithful to me and now I’m at crossroads of what to do in my life in the future. Well that is for God to tell me and for me to find out.

7 HABITS

August 12th, 2006 by chickykin

Last week I was back in Ipoh for the annual Formation Team meeting. This time the meeting nicely name TALSaR….The Amazing La Sallian Race. It was a great one too. Kudos to Prita and Sanjiv for organising the whole thing. They really outdid themselves. The TALSaR was also to incorporate the most important learning….the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Leaders (shared by the greatest speaker I’ve ever known….Bro Michael Broughton…and of course my dear friend who is also a great speaker..Eric)

The day started with the first 3 habits where it talks about Personal Victory:

1) Be Proactive

2) Begin with the End in mind

3) Put first things first

It was a great time…cause it was a time to reevaluate my life so far. A long reflection as you might say so and it was a time to renew my Personal Mission Statement. I think it has definitely change a lot.

After that came the race…….it was fun…I was posted at the Bougavilla Park (I didn’t know it exist). Only 5 groups out of 6 groups came to my station. Haha a lot of funny things happen during the race…and it shows that even if a group with more Ipoh people, it doesn’t really matter…

The evening session saw us with the last 4 habits:

4) Think Win-win

5) Seek first to understand then to be understood

6) Synergy

these 3 habits brings about public victory

And finally 7) Sharpening the Saw

The 7th habit is suppose to be the habit of growing more.

I enjoyed the weekend. It speaks a lot about my methods of leading groups sometimes. Sometimes the 7 habits do come out in me but sometimes I don’t bring it up. Well it’s a was a great sharpening the saw experience for a lot of people too.

The weekend also saw me commisioned as a Commisioner for the Malaysian LaSallian Youth Commission. A commission recently started for the FT by the FT. It was a touching experience and for a few seconds I did question my ability and also my courage to join such a group. However it did reaffirm me of my passion in the La Salle family. Hopefully the next 1 1/2 years I’ll be able to perform a great job for the FT…..

RASA

May 7th, 2006 by chickykin

Hi ppl,

Already one week in Rasa…am I havin a great time? Don’t know. Have mix emotions. Well for those who do not know. I’m actually doing my training in Rasa, Selangor a little town off Bukit Beruntung. It’s a nice town with lots of nice things to eat. I’m working at GAMUDA Waters, a water treatment plant and I’m under the supervision of the plant manager, Mr. N. He is nice, but sometimes very very china man. He actually is an Ipoh boy and well somehow we just cannot connect that much. We have had lunch and dinner together and our conversations are always about work and life. Not that I appreciate it, but I see the man whole day (I also stay in his apartment). The thing I like about him is that he really wants me to see me learn to be independent and also learn the tools of the trade. Most of the time I just see him in the morning and then he leaves me to find out what I must I do to solve a problem.

The other thing I like is the people here. All of them here are so super friendly and they really treat me as part of the group. They are actually nicer people here than in Bukit Badong especially the technician i’m under, Ak. He is so nice and so patient cause I’m the kinda guy who will ask a lot of questions.

Well next week I’ll have new company, 4 newbies will be joining the group, so maybe i won’t be so bored after all. And with the new assignment that I have my time has just begun here in Rasa, I still have 9 weeks to go. So do pray for me and as I travel to Putra Heights every weekend, pray for journey mercy. Thanks

Cheers
